Meeta Banerjee

Dr. Meeta Banerjee is Assistant Professor of Psychology at University of South Carolina, specializing in ecological-community psychology and applied developmental science. Her research examines how contextual factors influence minority youth development.

Her work investigates how racial socialization practices in families of color buffer against community violence exposure and discrimination. She examines how parental communication about race and culture influences educational motivation and psychological well-being in minority youth.

Using community-based participatory methods, Dr. Banerjee collaborates with minority communities to understand protective factors in child development. Her research has been conducted in Michigan, California, and South Carolina.
