Meenakshi Ramanathan

Meenakshi Ramanathan is an Associate Professor in Pharmacotherapy at the UNT System College of Pharmacy. She specializes in infectious diseases pharmacotherapy and antimicrobial stewardship, with clinical practice at the Medical Center of Arlington as an antimicrobial stewardship pharmacist.

• Joined UNT System College of Pharmacy in August 2014 as Assistant Professor, promoted to Associate Professor thereafter
• Completed PGY1 residency at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (2013) and PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency at VA North Texas Health Care System (2014)

Research focuses on optimizing antimicrobial use to minimize resistance/toxicity, including studies on procalcitonin, ESBL infections, MRSA bacteremia, tuberculosis adverse effects, and health disparities in infectious disease treatment. Active in scholarship of teaching and learning (SOTL), particularly vancomycin pharmacokinetics education. Leads the Work-Life Journey Committee focusing on well-being initiatives since 2017.

Publications span 2014-2019, emphasizing drug safety in tuberculosis/leprosy, herbal-drug interactions, and antimicrobial stewardship strategies. Her work is referenced in clinical guidelines and policy sources.
