Medhat Elmorsy is a doctoral researcher at ETH Zurich's Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering. His work focuses on seismic assessment of structures, structural concrete behavior, and performance-based seismic design, leveraging innovations in additive manufacturing and 3D-printed reinforcement for experimental modeling.
Elmorsy holds a BS/MS in Civil Engineering from Mansoura University, Egypt, and a second Master in Structural Engineering from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. His research integrates advanced materials and testing methodologies to improve seismic resilience in buildings.
He is affiliated with ETH Zurich's Seismic Design and Analysis group and actively contributes to centrifuge testing, physical modeling, and statistical validation frameworks for structural systems. His recent work explores how ground motion processing impacts rocking structures and the application of 3D printing in seismic testing.
Elmorsy's research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at conferences, addressing topics like reinforced concrete columns, beam-column joint uncertainties, and material testing for small-scale models.
