Athanasios Agalianos is Lecturer in Geotechnical Engineering at ETH Zurich's Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering. His research focuses on geotechnical earthquake engineering, particularly fault rupture propagation through soil and interactions with infrastructure.
Investigations combine centrifuge modeling, laboratory testing, and numerical simulations to analyze soil-structure systems subjected to seismic hazards. Current projects examine tunnel stability in clay formations, foundation responses to fault displacement, and development of geotechnical databases.
