Dr. Małgorzata Frydrych is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Physical Geography, Faculty of Geographical Sciences, University of Łódź, Poland. She also serves as the Vice-Dean for Student Affairs, acting as a liaison between students and administration while leading initiatives in academic support and event organization. Her research focuses on glacial geomorphology, sedimentology, and Quaternary geology, particularly the diversity of eskers and evidence of ancient glacial floods in Poland.
Research Interests include the morphological and sedimentological characteristics of glacial landforms, with a focus on
- Subglacial meltwater dynamics
- Jökulhlaup (glacial outburst flood) sedimentology
- Esker genesis in N−/R-channels
- Tunnel valley formation and infill
- Soft-sediment deformation structures
- Quaternary landscape evolution
Recent Publications highlight her work on esker morphodynamics, glacial flood deposits, and tunnel valley systems. She integrates fieldwork with laboratory analyses (lithofacies, grain-size, clast shape) to reconstruct ice-sheet ablation processes and hydrological conditions during the Saalian and Elsterian glaciations. Her research spans Poland and Finland, emphasizing comparative studies of glacial landsystems on soft vs. hard substrates.
Professional Roles include
- Secretary of the Polish Geomorphological Association
- Vice-President of the INQUA Peribaltic Working Group
- Leadership of the project "Causes of esker diversity: Poland-Finland comparison"
