Mateusz Podhalicz serves as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Administrative Law and Administrative Science within the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Lodz. He joined the university in 2024 following the successful defense of his doctoral dissertation.
Dr. Podhalicz earned his academic foundation at the University of Lodz, complemented by specialized training through the School of French Law (joint program with Université de Tours) and the School of German Law (joint program with Universität Münster). His doctoral research focused on environmental protection mechanisms, specifically examining 'The right to clean air - the scope, methods and effectiveness of its protection' under Professor Mariusz Golecki's supervision.
His scholarly work spans multiple legal domains with emphasis on administrative law, criminal law, comparative legal systems, and human rights. He integrates economic analysis into legal studies while maintaining strong interdisciplinary connections to history, linguistics, and economics. Fluent in four languages (English, German, Spanish, French), he brings an international perspective to his academic work.
Dr. Podhalicz maintains dual professional commitments, serving simultaneously as a judicial assessor at the District Court for Łódź-Śródmieście. After completing judicial apprenticeship (2018-2021), he adjudicated civil cases (2021-2024) before transitioning to the criminal division where he currently serves. His Thursday office hours (11:00-11:30) are held at room 3.97, Kopcińskiego 8/12 in Łódź.
