Dr. Mayra Ruiz-Castro is a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management and Leadership at Queen Mary University of London’s School of Business and Management. She holds a Ph.D. in Gender and Organizations from University College London. Her research focuses on gender and intersectional inequality in workplaces and households, particularly examining long working hours, work-life balance, maternal employment impacts, and career transitions. She co-directs the Borderlines Research Collective and is affiliated with the Centre for Research in Equality and Diversity (CRED).
Dr. Ruiz-Castro’s interdisciplinary work spans organizational sociology, career studies, and critical management. She has conducted studies across multiple countries including the US, Mexico, Germany, and India, collaborating with academics in over 10 nations. Her teaching includes courses on organizational identity, leadership, and research methods in HRM. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and the Royal Society for Arts.
