Maya Vachkova is a systems thinker and facilitator affiliated with the University of Exeter's Social and Political Sciences, Philosophy, and Anthropology school. She holds a PhD in Systems Thinking and serves as Programme Director for the MSc Systems Thinking in the Public Sector, an applied apprenticeship for civil servants. Her external engagements include membership in Metaphorum and a visiting fellowship at the Centre for Systems Studies, University of Hull.

Her research focuses on systemic marginalization, identity processes, stakeholder engagement, and participatory organizational transformations. She applies methodologies like the Viable System Model, Critical Systems Heuristics, Soft Systems Methodology, and System Dynamics to address complex social issues and private-sector consultancies.

Vachkova has facilitated systemic interventions in Bulgarian SMEs, led a groundbreaking employee-led evaluation of NHS Trust COVID-19 management using VSM, and conducted research on water management's role in conflicts in Syria and Yemen.
