Maya Boustani, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Loma Linda University. Her work focuses on developing and implementing evidence-based mental health interventions for children and adolescents, particularly in underserved communities through the Community-Academic Research Endeavor (CARE) Lab. She holds a PhD and MS in Child and Adolescent Clinical Science from Florida International University, and an MS in Experimental Psychology from Villanova University.
Her research emphasizes community-based approaches, with a focus on dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) programming for adolescents, mental health prevention, and bridging research to clinical practice. Notable projects include the CARE Lab's Project SOARing and collaborations in India to design school-based mental health interventions. She actively contributes to professional organizations like the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) and the Society for Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology.
Dr. Boustani’s publications span implementation science, DBT effectiveness, and digital health tools for alcohol misuse.
