May Owen

May Owen is a Lecturer in Business Management at Solent University, with a strategic focus on Intercultural Management. Previously, she held a senior lecturer role at London South Bank University (LSBU) Business School. She serves as Director of Research & Academic Relations at SIETAR UK, an organization dedicated to intercultural education. Her research emphasizes cross-cultural communication, global leadership, and cultural competencies, particularly in multinational contexts.

Education: PhD in 'Employee Behaviour and the Role of National Culture' from London Metropolitan University (2016), PGCert from Falmouth University, and specialized training in Cross-Cultural Management programs (Maastricht University, AOTS Japan). She is an accredited Hofstede Insights lecturer and cross-cultural trainer.

Research projects include developing a cross-cultural skills toolkit for European enterprises (collaborating with 5 universities) and a Solent-led initiative on intercultural integration of refugee learners. Awards include Chartered Fellow CIPD and AFHEA.

Recent publications explore cultural intelligence, employee voice in SMEs, and universal values in business. She actively contributes to global projects addressing cultural competency in education and workforce development.
