May Farrales is an Assistant Professor in the Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies department at Simon Fraser University. She is an interdisciplinary scholar engaged in research and teaching that explores intersections of racialization, queer politics, and power dynamics tied to colonialism, empire-building, and capitalism. Her work focuses on the racial geographies of settler colonialism through a Filipinx diaspora lens.
Dr. Farrales previously held a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Northern British Columbia as a Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Trainee. She currently serves as an editor for the journal ACME: An International Journal for Critical Geographies. Her courses include GEOG 382 D100 'World on the Move' and GSWS 312 D100 'Gendering Borders and Belonging in Migration' (Fall 2025).
