Maxine Whittaker

Professor Maxine Whittaker is an Honorary Professor at the School of Public Health, University of Queensland. Her research focuses on public health systems, malaria elimination strategies, and One Health approaches, with extensive work in the Asia-Pacific region.

Her research interests include health systems strengthening, community engagement in disease control, intersectoral collaboration for vector-borne diseases, and health information systems in low-resource settings. She has led significant work on malaria elimination through the Asia Pacific Malaria Elimination Network.

Prof. Whittaker's publications demonstrate strong focus on malaria elimination, health information systems, and community participation in health programs. Her recent work examines One Health approaches to wildlife management and diagnostic methods for neglected tropical diseases.

She has contributed to policy development through committees including the malERA (malaria Eradication Research Agenda) initiative, which updated research agendas for malaria elimination and eradication.

Prof. Whittaker coordinates research across multiple institutions in the Asia-Pacific region, focusing on practical implementation of disease control strategies.
