Maxine Payne is the Willis H. Holmes Distinguished Professor of Art at Hendrix College, holding the Isabelle Peregrin Odyssey Professorship since 2024. A faculty member since 2002, she specializes in photography that engages communities and explores themes of place, cultural heritage, and social identity. Her work combines artistic practice with collaborative projects like the Audio Visual Arkansas (AVARK.net) digital storytelling initiative and the Arkansas Historic Bridges documentation for the state transportation department.
