Max Parra

Max Parra is Associate Professor of Latin American Literature at UC San Diego. His research examines 19th-21st century Mexican cultural production, focusing on literature of the Mexican Revolution, narrative forms, and intersections of photography with literary expression.

Research investigates popular poetics, historical memory, and geographical imaginaries in Latin American prose. His work analyzes how cultural forms represent political violence and social transformation.

Publications explore topics ranging from corridos of the Revolution to literary uses of photography in testimonial narratives. He has contributed to critical anthologies on Mexican cultural history.
