معرفی
Max Kaufmann is a Professor at the University of Hamburg, affiliated with the Department of Neuroimmunology and Multiple Sclerosis within the Faculty of Medicine. His research focuses on neuroimmunological mechanisms underlying autoimmune diseases, particularly multiple sclerosis (MS) and autoimmune encephalitis. Key areas include understanding T cell biology in neurodegenerative pathways, genetic predisposition, and therapeutic targets for CNS pathologies.
His work spans clinical and translational research, with contributions to stem cell transplantation in MS, CSF biomarkers for autoimmune encephalitis, and molecular mechanisms of neuronal vulnerability. He leads studies integrating single-cell analysis and genetic approaches to uncover disease mechanisms.
Publications highlight discoveries in T cell colonization in infants, early neurodegenerative pathways in MS, and genetic loci associated with anti-NMDAR encephalitis. His findings bridge basic immunology with clinical applications, aiming to improve diagnostics and therapies for neuroimmune disorders.
