Dr. Max Jones is a Senior Lecturer in Modern British History at the University of Manchester's Department of History. A Fellow of the Royal Historical and Geographical Societies, he specializes in modern history since 1750, focusing on heroism, gender, exploration, and media studies. He has authored/co-authored books and articles, including a forthcoming Oxford University Press monograph on British heroism. His research projects include collaborations with the University of Freiburg and Prof. Emma Barrett on extreme environments and heroic narratives.

Research interests include Arctic exploration networks, the cultural history of war, and the intersection of media and celebrity. His work bridges traditional historical methods with interdisciplinary approaches. He has supervised over 20 PhD students, many of whom focus on British cultural and social history.
