Max Griswold is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Policy Analysis at the RAND School of Public Policy and an Associate Policy Researcher at the RAND Corporation. His research focuses on how policymaking affects vulnerable populations, particularly in areas such as criminal justice, housing policies, and behavioral health risks. He holds a Ph.D. from Pardee RAND Graduate School, an M.S. in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin, and a B.S. in Economics, Philosophy, and Mathematics from Ohio State University.
His work examines inequitable outcomes in marginalized communities, including the impact of crime-free housing policies on evictions and the socioeconomic vulnerabilities of populations exposed to tropical cyclones. He has authored studies in prestigious journals like Nature and The Lancet, and developed tools for policy evaluation using causal inference and spatial analysis.
Griswold’s prior experience includes roles as a research scientist at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation and a high school math teacher through Americorps. His methodological expertise spans statistical analysis, policy simulation, and data visualization, with a focus on addressing systemic inequities through evidence-based approaches.
