Mauro Maggi is a Full Professor of Iranian Philology (L-OR/14) at Sapienza University of Rome since 2019, affiliated with the Italian Institute of Oriental Studies. Born in Como, he studied in Milan, Naples, and Hamburg, previously serving as Associate Professor at the University of Naples L'Orientale and as a librarian at the Italian Institute for Africa and the East in Rome. His research focuses on Khotanese language/texts, Central Asian Buddhism, Iranian language history, and New Persian development.
