Maurizio Valeriani is an Adjunct Professor in Plastic Surgery at Sapienza University and Tor Vergata University of Rome, and a member of the teaching staff at UniCamillus. He served as Head of the Plastic Surgery Department at Rome Local Health Authority from 1998 to 2019, overseeing three major hospitals. Specializing in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, he pioneered the GLADI technique for gluteal fat transfer and advocates cartilage grafts in rhinoplasty. He holds the prestigious title of Great Officer of the Merit Order of the Italian Republic (1997) and contributed to national healthcare reforms through roles like advisor to the 'Alpa Commission' and Honorary President of the National Breast Cancer Conference.
Educated in Rome, he earned a Medicine and Surgery degree (1973-74) with highest honors, followed by specializations in Vascular Surgery (1976-77) and Reconstructive/Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (1980-81). He is a member of the Italian Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (SICPRE) and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS).
With over 100 peer-reviewed publications, his research focuses on innovative surgical techniques and patient safety. His career blends academic leadership, clinical excellence, and contributions to national healthcare policy.
