Dr. Maurita T. Harris is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Liberal Arts at Wilfrid Laurier University, holding dual appointments in User Experience Design and Social Justice & Community Engagement. She is based at the Brantford campus in Ontario, Canada.
Education: She earned a B.A. in Psychology from North Carolina State University followed by an M.S. and Ph.D. in Community Health from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Research Focus: Her work examines technology's role in supporting well-being through a Human Factors lens. Primary themes include:
- Designing inclusive technology for aging populations
- Digital health interventions and equity frameworks
- Technology adoption barriers across diverse abilities
- Intersectional analysis of racial/digital disparities
- Behavior change facilitation through UX design
Laboratory Leadership: Dr. Harris directs the Well-Tech Research & Design Laboratory (well-techlab.com), which fosters global interdisciplinary collaborations spanning community health, engineering, gerontology, psychology, and social justice.
