Maurine Ogbaa is Assistant Professor of Literature at UT Dallas' Harry W. Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology, specializing in creative writing and African diasporic studies. She holds a PhD in English Literature from University of Houston (2021), MFA from Washington University in St. Louis (2010), and BA from UT Austin (2005).
Her creative and scholarly work examines experiences of African diasporic women, interrogating dual meanings of bildungsromans through frameworks of feminism and philosophy. Publications explore themes of cultural displacement, identity formation, and social commentary through short stories and memoirs.
Dr. Ogbaa has presented research on consanguinity in Amma Darko's literature, multicultural maturation in African fiction, and erotic/personal power in contemporary novels at MLA, SAMLA, and specialized conferences. She maintains affiliations with National Women's Studies Association and Modern Language Association.
