Mauricio Verano Merino

Mauricio Verano Merino is an Assistant Professor at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam within the Faculty of Science's Theoretical Computer Science department. He is also affiliated with the Network Institute. He holds a PhD from Eindhoven University of Technology (2022) in Engineering Language-Parametric End-User Programming Interfaces for DSLs. His research focuses on domain-specific languages, programming environments, and creative coding applications. He currently teaches courses like Applied Programming for AI, Introduction to Python Programming, and Software Language Engineering.

Research interests include block-based environments, notebook interfaces, and language engineering for end-users. Notable contributions include a Distinguished artifact award at SLE 2021. His work spans automotive system adaptation rules, young learners' programming education, and code-based artistic expression.
