Mauricio Tenorio-Trillo is the Gustavus F. and Ann M. Swift Distinguished Service Professor of History at the University of Chicago and a Professor Afiliado at the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE) in Mexico City. He is currently on research leave for Autumn 2025 and Winter 2026. His primary affiliation is with the University of Chicago's Department of History.

His research spans Latin American history, historiography, cultural studies, and the interplay between history, language, and identity. He critically examines nationalism, transnationalism, and the conceptual frameworks shaping Latin American studies.
