Maureen Murchie is an Adjunct Professor of Music (Strings) at the University of Mary’s School of Arts & Sciences. She concurrently serves as Assistant Dean of Humanities, Arts & Sciences at Bismarck State College and Concertmaster of the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra. Her expertise spans historically informed Baroque/Classical performance, Japanese language fluency, and string pedagogy.
- Education: DMA (2010, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), MM (2003), BA (2001), Baylor University
Research interests include period instrument performance practices and the history of Japanese orchestral traditions, exemplified by her doctoral dissertation on the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra. She has performed with ensembles like the Handel and Haydn Society, Apollo’s Fire, and the Broadway pit orchestras for *Farinelli and the King* and *Parade*.
