Maureen McNichols is the Marriner S. Eccles Professor of Accounting and Public and Private Management at Stanford Graduate School of Business. Her research examines financial reporting quality, earnings management, and market responses to accounting information.
Key research areas include: 1) Dynamics of earnings announcements and their impact on investors, 2) Corporate incentives and methods for earnings management, 3) Auditors' role in financial reporting quality. Recent work analyzes market reactions to earnings disclosures over time and audit market matching mechanisms.
