Maureen Marshall

Dr. Maureen Marshall is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education Leadership at George Mason University's College of Education and Human Development. She joined Mason in 2019 after 27 years in public education as a teacher, administrator, and policy advisor. Her roles included principal of Title I and Advanced Academic schools in Virginia, and legislative work on education policy in Washington, D.C. She has also served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Virginia.

Dr. Marshall holds an EdD in Education Leadership and Policy Studies from Virginia Tech. Her research focuses on leadership development, school climate, cultural competence, and equitable education strategies. She is a recognized speaker on professional learning communities and school culture.

Her awards include the 2011 Washington Post Distinguished Leadership Award and multiple recognitions as an Outstanding Principal. Dr. Marshall teaches courses such as Contemporary Issues in Education Leadership and Supervision and Evaluation of Instruction. She actively mentors aspiring principals and has presented nationally on educational leadership topics.
