Maureen Healy is an Associate Professor of History at Lewis and Clark College, located in Portland, Oregon. She specializes in Modern European History, with a focus on Central Europe, World War I, and gender studies. Previously, she taught at Oregon State University and served as Chair of the History Department at Lewis and Clark (2019–2022). Her research explores themes such as nationalism, historical memory, and the intersection of European identity with global contexts.

Research Interests: Her work examines social and cultural dynamics in Central Europe, including the Habsburg Empire and the impact of World War I on everyday life. Her book Vienna and the Fall of the Habsburg Empire: Total War and Everyday Life in World War I (2004) received prestigious awards. Current research investigates historical narratives of the 1683 Vienna siege and its role in modern debates over Europe’s identity and Turkey’s EU membership.
