Maureen E. Brady is the Louis D. Brandeis Professor of Law at Harvard Law School, specializing in property law, legal history, and constitutional law. She teaches property law and related subjects, and her research explores historical analyses of property institutions and land use doctrines. Her current projects include the relationship between covenants and zoning, community knowledge in property law, and state constitutional history. She is an Associate Reporter for the American Law Institute’s Fourth Restatement of Property. Previously, she taught at the University of Virginia School of Law, where she received multiple teaching awards. Brady holds an A.B. from Harvard College, a J.D. from Yale Law School, and a Ph.D. in Law from Yale University. She clerked for Judge Bruce M. Selya on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and practiced corporate law at Ropes & Gray. Her research focuses on property law’s intersection with constitutional and environmental issues, emphasizing historical context and legal frameworks. Recent publications include works on the Contract Clause, land use regulation, and state constitutional history.
