Mattias Maurice Dooms is an Unpaid Employee in Movement and Sport Sciences at the Faculty of Physical Education and Physical Therapy. His research focuses on dual career interventions for athletes, mental health literacy in sports, and life skill transfer in Olympic athletes. He is currently completing a doctoral thesis titled The implementation and evaluation of dual career interventions, supervised by Professors De Brandt, Wylleman, and Garcia Mas.
Key collaborations include international partnerships with researchers from Slovenia and South Africa. His work emphasizes practical interventions and cross-cultural methodologies in athlete development. Research outputs include poster presentations and conference abstracts addressing mental health and career transition challenges faced by elite athletes.
