Mattias Jonsson is a Professor of Mathematics and Associate Chair for Graduate Studies at the University of Michigan. His research focuses on non-Archimedean geometry, particularly using Berkovich spaces to study degenerations in complex geometry and dynamical systems. Key interests include constructing canonical metrics, mirror symmetry, and boundary behavior of parameter spaces for dynamical systems.
- Education: Ph.D. from the Royal Institute of Technology (1997)
His work bridges abstract geometric theories with concrete applications in analysis and dynamics. Recent publications highlight collaborations and advancements in Kähler geometry, pluripotential theory, and tropical geometry. Jonsson has received the NSF CAREER Award (2005) for his research on singularities and valuations.
- Scientific Awards: NSF CAREER Award (2005)
