Matti Silveri is an Associate Professor at the University of Oulu, Faculty of Science, within the Nano and Molecular Systems Research Unit, where he leads the Superconducting Quantum Simulations and Quantum Information research group.
Education:
- PhD from University of Oulu (2013)
- Postdoctoral Associate at Yale University, USA (2013-2016)
- Postdoctoral researcher at University of Oulu and Aalto University (2016)
Research Interests: His work spans quantum computing, superconducting quantum devices, quantum information, open quantum systems, and many-body physics. The research group employs analytic, numerical, and experimental approaches to study transmon qubit arrays, focusing on quantum simulation, dissipation effects, and many-body localization phenomena.
Scientific Awards:
- Academy of Finland Research Fellow (2018-2023)
Advising and Grants: He supervises six doctoral researchers and three postdoctoral researchers. As principal investigator, he led the Academy of Finland project "Many-body localization and dissipation in arrays of superconducting transmon devices" (2018-2023), which received significant funding for quantum software research with applications in drug development and finance.
Research Group: The Superconducting Quantum Simulations and Quantum Information group operates within the Nano and Molecular Systems Research Unit, collaborating on experimental validations of quantum device behavior and exploring the "dark side" of quantum systems as highlighted in recent institutional publications.
