Professor Matti Niemi is a prominent academic in Property Law and Legal Theory at the University of Eastern Finland's Law School, part of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies. He also holds docent positions at the Universities of Helsinki, Lapland, Turku, and LUT University. His research focuses on comparative property law, contract law, legal philosophy, and jurisprudence. He actively participates in the Common Core of European Private Law Research Project, publishing on topics like adverse possession, legal objectivity, and Nordic legal systems. He has advised doctoral theses, including those by Martti Häkkäsen and Karoliina Helle.
