Matthieu Chabanas is a Research Scientist at Vanderbilt University's School of Engineering, Department of Computer Science, affiliated with the Machine Automation, Perception, and Learning (MAPLE) Lab and the Vanderbilt Institute for Surgery and Engineering (VISE). His research focuses on algorithms for robotic surgery guidance, particularly in soft-tissue deformation modeling, eye-gaze tracking for cognitive load analysis, and optimal camera view determination during surgical procedures.

His expertise spans Image Guided Surgery, Computer Vision, Biomechanical Modeling, and Surgical Simulation. Current projects involve 3D endoscopic scene reconstruction and augmented reality applications in Urology, Head & Neck Surgery, Pediatrics, and Sports Medicine.
