Matthieu Allez, MD, PhD, is a Professor at the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, McGill University, and an Investigator at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) on the Glen site. He is affiliated with the Infectious Diseases and Immunity in Global Health Program.
Research Focus: Allez specializes in translational research on inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), examining the interplay between innate and adaptive immunity in chronic intestinal inflammation. His work explores postoperative relapse mechanisms, therapeutic response heterogeneity, and the identification of biomarkers for disease subtypes and treatment outcomes.
Key Contributions: His recent publications highlight antigen-driven T cell clonal expansion in IBD, organoid co-culture models for epithelial-immune interactions, and gene expression profiling to predict post-surgical recurrence. Earlier work on regulatory T cells in gut immunity remains foundational.
Disciplinary Keywords: Translational IBD research • multiomic analysis • T cell repertoire • advanced therapies • biomarker discovery.
