Matthias Vogel is a Senior Lecturer and Language Coordinator at the Department of German & Scandinavian within the Schnitzer School of Global Studies and Languages at the University of Oregon. He also serves as the Director of Undergraduate Studies for German and as a Faculty Fellow at Yasui Hall. His work bridges language pedagogy, cultural identity, and experiential learning, with a focus on global engagement and residential education.
His research interests span German language and culture, pedagogy, globalization, and global engagement. He investigates identity discourses and multiculturalism in educational contexts, the role of study abroad programs in cross-cultural learning, and the interdisciplinary connections between food studies and cultural understanding. Vogel also explores organizational leadership in higher education and contributes to academic residential communities and residential life initiatives.
