Matthias Schmaus is a Professor in the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg (THA), Germany. He teaches in the Civil Engineering (B.Eng.) program and participates in multiple research initiatives focused on sustainable infrastructure development.
His research spans Civil Engineering with emphasis on Structural Engineering, Water Management systems, Sustainable Construction methodologies, CO2 Accounting frameworks for building projects, and advanced Wastewater Treatment solutions. Key projects include "Modeling and simulation with ExtendSim" for infrastructure planning, "Project_M3: CO2-accounting" for environmental impact assessment, and the "Otzing wastewater treatment plant project" addressing modern sanitation challenges.
Professor Schmaus contributes to applied research through THA's collaborative networks including the DIGITAL CONSTRUCTION FACTORY initiative and regional sustainability projects like "Power to Switch" for car-free urban zones in Augsburg. His work bridges academic theory with practical civil engineering solutions for contemporary infrastructure demands.
