Matthias Neufang is Professor of Mathematics at Carleton University with joint appointment at Université Lille 1. His research bridges functional analysis, harmonic analysis, and operator algebras, with focus on representation theory and locally compact quantum groups.
Key research examines the interplay between Banach algebra theory and operator spaces through representation theory. Recent work includes amenability properties of operator algebras, representations on Banach spaces, Fejér representations for quantum groups, and multiplicative stability in Banach algebras. He develops connections between abstract harmonic analysis and quantum group theory to study topological centers and cohomological properties.
Dr. Neufang has taught courses spanning advanced calculus, complex variables, Banach algebras, and Fourier analysis. He holds a PhD from Universität des Saarlandes and completed postdoctoral research at the University of Alberta.
