Matthias Kräkel

Matthias Kräkel is a Professor of Business Administration at the University of Bonn's Faculty of Law and Economics, Department of Economics. He serves as an Associated Investigator in the Cluster since 2019 and is a Research Fellow at IZA (Institute of Labor Economics). His academic affiliations include membership in the Verein für Socialpolitik, European Economic Association, and American Economic Association.

Dr. Kräkel received his PhD in Economics from the Free University of Berlin in 1992 after studying at the University of Hannover. His research focuses on Personnel Economics, Organization Economics, and Theory of the Firm, with significant contributions to understanding incentive structures, organizational design, and corporate governance mechanisms.

His recent publications demonstrate consistent focus on personnel economics and organizational behavior, with recurring themes including performance pay systems, delegation of authority, team dynamics, and information manipulation in economic contexts. The research spans multiple high-impact journals including Management Science, Journal of Labor Economics, and Games and Economic Behavior.

Professor Kräkel maintains active research collaborations with scholars including Andreas Grunewald, Anja Schöttner, and Michael Beckmann.
