Matthew Yalch, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at Palo Alto University, teaching primarily in the Ph.D. program. He maintains clinical and research collaborations with the San Francisco VA Health Care System following his doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship there. Dr. Yalch holds multiple degrees including a Ph.D. and M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Michigan State University, an M.ILR from Cornell University in International and Comparative Labor, and a B.A. in Psychology and Religious Studies from Cornell University.
His research focuses on the intersection of personality and trauma, employing advanced statistical methods like Bayesian analysis. Key interests include multi-method personality assessment, PTSD treatment, co-occurring conditions, Motivational Interviewing, and pedagogical innovation in psychology education.
Dr. Yalch actively participates in professional organizations including the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, the Society for Personality Assessment, and Divisions 2, 32, 39, and 56 of the American Psychological Association. He leads the Trauma, Assessment, and Psychotherapy Services (TAPS) Lab.
