Matthew W. McKeon is a Professor and Department Chairperson in the Department of Philosophy at Michigan State University since 2011. His research focuses on the philosophy of logic, argumentation theory, and epistemology, particularly exploring the cognitive and normative dimensions of reasoning practices. He has authored a monograph on logical consequence (2010) and is completing a book project titled Arguments and Reason Giving (target 2024). His teaching emphasizes logic courses such as PHL 130, 330, 432, and 432, integrating his research into undergraduate and graduate instruction. McKeon advocates for intellectual virtues in critical thinking and has contributed to fostering an inclusive environment for underrepresented groups in philosophy, as highlighted by the College of Arts & Letters in 2021.
