Matthew Sutton is a Professor of Health Economics and joint-lead of the Health Organisation, Policy and Economics (HOPE) research group at the University of Manchester. He holds adjunct roles at Monash University and the University of Melbourne. His work focuses on healthcare financing, workforce dynamics, and resource allocation policies.
Education: BA in Economics (Leeds, 1990), MSc in Health Economics (York, 1991), PhD in Economics (York, 1995).
Research interests include the impact of financial incentives on healthcare providers, needs-based funding formulas, and healthcare workforce planning. His recent work examines payment systems, workforce productivity, and health inequities.
His articles explore topics like sleep-work relationships, healthcare quality determinants, and resource allocation. Key awards include NIHR Senior Investigator status since 2016.
