Matthew Sturos

Matthew Sturos is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Veterinary Population Medicine at the University of Minnesota. He holds a DVM and Diplomate certification from the American College of Veterinary Pathologists, and his research focuses on veterinary virology, epidemiology, and disease transmission in animal populations.

His research spans critical areas in veterinary science, including the study of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) evolution, Senecavirus A persistence in swine, and cross-species transmission of Rotavirus B. He also contributes to xenotransplantation safety protocols and clinical diagnostics for animal diseases.

Recent publications highlight his work on genomic surveillance of PRRSV, viral shedding mechanisms, and zoonotic risks in xenotransplantation. His expertise bridges clinical veterinary practice with population-level disease analysis.
