Cesar Corzo is an Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota, affiliated with the College of Veterinary Medicine and the Veterinary Population Medicine (VPM) department. He holds the Leman Chair in Swine Health & Productivity and works closely with the Swine Program. His research focuses on infectious disease dynamics in swine populations, with an emphasis on biosecurity, viral transmission modeling, and epidemiological surveillance.
- PhD, University of Minnesota, Saint Paul, Minnesota (2012)
- MS, University of Guelph, Guelph, Ontario, Canada (2004)
- DVM, Universidad de La Salle, Bogota, Colombia (2002)
Dr. Corzo’s research spans veterinary epidemiology, virology, and biosecurity in swine systems. He investigates PRRSV transmission, African swine fever preparedness, Senecavirus A surveillance, and environmental pathogen persistence. His recent work leverages phylogenetic analysis, network modeling, and in vitro studies to mitigate disease spread.
His 2025 publications highlight advancements in PRRSV variant monitoring, biosecurity effectiveness, ASF surveillance tools, and swine disease transmission pathways. These works reflect his expertise in integrating computational modeling, genomics, and field data to address pressing challenges in swine health.
Dr. Corzo collaborates with the Secure Food Systems Team at the University of Minnesota’s College of Veterinary Medicine, contributing to global swine disease reporting and pandemic response frameworks.
