Matthew S. Weinert is a Professor in the Department of Political Science & International Relations at the University of Delaware, affiliated with the College of Arts & Sciences. He joined the faculty in 2006 and holds a PhD from the University of Denver (2002). His research focuses on world order structures, human security, human rights, and cultural heritage governance. He has authored two major books and serves as Senior Editor of the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of International Studies.
His academic work examines intersections of human dignity, global governance frameworks, and international legal systems. Recent research emphasizes cultural heritage preservation as a component of human security. Key publications include Making Human: World Order and the Global Governance of Human Dignity (2015) and Democratic Sovereignty (2007).
