Prof Tom Pegram is a Professor in Global Politics at the Department of Political Science and Director of the UCL Global Governance Institute. His work focuses on global governance, climate policy, human rights, and complex systems. He holds a DPhil in Politics from Nuffield College, Oxford, and has held research fellowships at institutions including Harvard Law School and New York University.
Research interests include global policy implementation, climate change, human rights governance, and systemic risk management. His recent book Explaining Transformative Change in ASEAN and EU Climate Policy (2023) examines multilevel policy dynamics. He has secured funding from the EU Horizon 2020, British Academy, and Nuffield Foundation.
- Key Achievements: Awarded 2018 ISA Diplomatic Studies Section Best Article Award for work in American Journal of International Law.
- Teaching: Leads courses on Global Governance (MSc) and Human Rights Politics (MA).
His research bridges theoretical and empirical analysis, addressing challenges like corporate climate commitments, pandemic governance, and just transition policies. Recent op-eds highlight systemic risks posed by unchecked economic growth and propose inclusive decarbonization strategies.
