Dr. Matthew Rofe is a Researcher in Urban Geography at the University of South Australia (UniSA), affiliated with UniSA Creative and the School of Natural and Built Environments. As Research Degree Coordinator, he oversees postgraduate research in creative and applied disciplines. His work focuses on urban landscapes, globalization, and the intersection of culture, community, and space.
Research Interests: Urban revitalization, global city dynamics, rural-urban linkages, heritage conservation, pandemic impacts on tourism, and contested urban identities. His studies explore how spaces reflect power imbalances and shape societal resilience, with recent emphasis on post-pandemic leisure behaviors and UNESCO heritage sites.
Key Contributions: Authored/co-authored over 30 publications, including analyses of Port Adelaide's waterfront redevelopment, Aceh's pandemic tourism resilience, and global iconoclasm. His work bridges theoretical geography with applied urban policy, emphasizing community-driven solutions.
