Matthew Reeve is an Associate Professor and Queen's National Scholar in the Department of Art History and Art Conservation at Queen's University, within the Faculty of Arts and Science. His research focuses on medieval art, architecture, and their modern reinterpretations, particularly the intersections of Gothic aesthetics, sexuality, and historiography. He holds cross-appointments in the Department of History and Medieval Studies.
Reeve earned his Ph.D. from Cambridge University and previously taught at the University of London. His authored books include *Gothic Architecture and Sexuality in the Circle of Horace Walpole* (2020) and *Casa Loma: Medievalism, Modernity and Millionaires in Toronto's Gilded Age* (2023). His work has been supported by grants from SSHRC, the Paul Mellon Centre, and others.
Key research themes include medieval British art, the historiography of Gothic architecture, and the cultural legacies of medievalism. Recent projects involve digital preservation through the CFI-funded MobArch lab and studies on Wells Cathedral's Gothic sculpture and Welsh medieval art under colonization.
Awarded the Historians of British Art Book Prize (2021), Reeve is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and Royal Historical Society. He advises on scholarly publications and has published extensively in journals like *The Art Bulletin* and *Architectural History*.
