Matthew R. McBrady is a Professor of Practice at the Darden School of Business, University of Virginia. Prior to his return to academia, he spent nearly 15 years in the private sector as a hedge fund and private equity investor, serving as Chief Investment Officer at BlackRock, Managing Director at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and leading investment strategy at Silver Creek Capital Management. He also played a pivotal role in transforming Global Partnerships into a leading Impact Investor.

His publications include empirical studies on treasury markets and international finance, reflecting his expertise in global capital dynamics.
His recent academic contributions include articles in the Journal of Financial Intermediation and Journal of Financial Economics, with themes centered on financial innovation and policy implications in corporate finance. These works highlight his interdisciplinary approach to market liquidity, currency exchange, and restructuring strategies.
As a policy advisor, he contributed to the Clinton administration's response to the Asian Financial Crisis and co-founded the U.S. Treasury's Office of Policy Development and Review. His entrepreneurial experience includes co-founding aQuantive and TASER International (now Axon), which he helped scale into global technology leaders.
