Matthew Prina is a Senior Lecturer in Epidemiology at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King's College London, where he leads the Social Epidemiology Research Group. His work bridges ageing, mental health, and physical-mental health interactions, with a focus on global health and cross-national comparative studies.
- Trained at the University of Glasgow and University of Cambridge (PhD in Public Health, 2012)
- Joined King's in 2013 with an MRC Population Health Scientist Fellowship
Research Interests include:
- Ageing and dementia, particularly risk factors and healthy ageing frameworks
- Multimorbidity and frailty in older populations
- Systematic reviews, observational studies, and data linkage methodologies
- Social determinants of mental health, including loneliness, caregiving, and health inequalities
Articles highlight trends in dementia research, psychosis economics, and social-environmental influences on mental health across low/middle-income countries. His educational contributions include teaching evidence synthesis and leading the departmental PhD sub-committee.
