Matthew P. Smith

Matthew P. Smith is a Lecturer in the Department of English at Tulane University. His work bridges academic instruction with community engagement, including a service-learning course focused on speech and debate coaching in local charter schools.

His research interests include rhetoric and composition studies, first-year writing pedagogy, literary regionalism, virtue ethics, and the intersection of ethics with public education history in post-Civil War New Orleans.
